ChatGPT Ads is booming.
Parent company OpenAI today revealed that more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT since ads launched around eight months ago.
The company also announced that ChatGPT Ads is rolling out to 26 additional countries, bringing its advertising platform to 89 markets globally.
Why This Matters
This is more shock and awe from OpenAI, which has been speedrunning its ads business. A couple of weeks ago, the company announced a slew of new capabilities and adtech integrations, mostly on the measurement side.
This latest expansion includes 14 additional Latin American countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru, alongside markets such as Nigeria, South Africa, Ukraine, Cambodia and Pakistan.
Advertisers can access ChatGPT Ads through technology partners or OpenAI’s self-service Ads Manager.
For now, ads remain limited to ChatGPT’s Free and Go subscription tiers.

According to OpenAI’s Benji Shomair, on LinkedIn:
“Advertising helps support free and low-cost access to ChatGPT around the world. For businesses, from local shops to global brands, it creates an opportunity to reach people as they explore options and make decisions. For people, it can help surface useful products and services they might not have discovered otherwise.”
Our Take
Surpassing 100,000 advertisers in eight months is a big milestone, though there are some caveats. OpenAI hasn’t disclosed how many are actively spending, how much they’re spending or what results they’re seeing, for example. But overall, this is very positive.
The bigger question is what comes next. OpenAI says it’s developing additional ad formats, campaign objectives, buying options and measurement capabilities, while exploring more native ways for brands to interact with consumers.
With ChatGPT’s global reach already established and its ads business quickly finding its footing, the challenge now is turning advertiser experimentation into sustained spending.
