X continues to build out its performance cred.
The Elon Musk-owned social network announced today that its Lead Gen Ads product is now available to all advertisers globally, including SMBs and self-serve buyers. The product was first teased over the summer.
The format lets users submit contact information directly within X, without leaving the platform. Advertisers can use the ads to generate leads, book demos and drive event registrations, among other use cases.
Why This Matters
X is putting more emphasis on driving results, while making its ad tools more accessible to smaller businesses. This has always been the most sensible strategy, especially as larger advertisers pulled back due to brand safety concerns.
The wider Lead Gen rollout follows several related moves, including AI-powered targeting and campaign tools aimed at SMBs, plus Grok-powered features designed to help (smaller) advertisers create ads and analyze campaigns.
More recently, X also announced an AI-centered rebuild of Ads Manager to improve ad relevance and simplify campaign creation.
Experts React
Monique Pintarelli, X’s head of global advertising, said the launch responds to advertiser demand for simpler lead generation.
“Lead Gen Ads deliver that, and making them available to everyone means more businesses, including smaller ones, can turn real-time attention into results across the full funnel.”
Our Take
X keeps chugging along.
For all the controversy surrounding the platform, its ads business seems to have a clearer product focus than it has in recent years. (Performance, baby!)
The question now is whether these improvements actually deliver results for advertisers. X says they do, but given the platform’s past controversies, it will need to keep proving its value.
