Agentic advertising is coming to your TV’s home screen.
LG Ad Solutions and Magnite have extended their partnership for another three years, with LG making its Home Screen ad inventory available for agentic buying through Magnite’s Seller Agent.
The deal also extends Magnite‘s existing role as a preferred programmatic partner, while its SpringServe platform will remain LG Ad Solutions‘ exclusive CTV video ad server.
Why This Matters:
Buying CTV advertising can involve a lot of manual work, from planning campaigns and negotiating inventory access to executing deals across different platforms. A CIMM report, for example, identifies fragmentation as a major challenge for the category.
Magnite’s Seller Agent aims to simplify that process, helping advertisers move from planning to execution with fewer manual steps.
And the inventory itself is interesting. LG’s Home Screen is what viewers encounter when they turn on their TVs, before they even open Netflix, YouTube or another streaming app. It’s a prominent advertising placement that reaches viewers at the start of their streaming experience.
The expanded partnership includes greater use of Magnite’s ClearLine platform, which gives advertisers a more direct way to access inventory. Per the announcement release, LG has also been experimenting with Magnite’s generative AI tools to create Home Screen and video ads.
Experts React:
Agency H/L is the first to use Magnite’s agentic buying capabilities to purchase LG Home Screen ads, running a campaign for the Northern California Toyota Dealers Association during football season.
H/L VP Jeremy Cobb says the technology makes it easier to buy premium CTV inventory:
“Our clients get direct access to premium home screen inventory through the same stack as everything else we manage. It’s simpler, faster and built for performance.”
Our Take:
We’re seeing more adtech companies introduce AI agents to automate parts of programmatic buying. Increasingly, these capabilities are moving from product announcements to real-world applications.
Still, there’s a distinction worth making. Automating the steps required to execute a campaign isn’t necessarily the same as having an autonomous AI agent make media-buying decisions. As agentic advertising gains traction, the industry needs more clarity on what these agents actually do.
